Latest piece: Cyber Sickness

This piece is about the greed and sickness of hoarding wealth. Many years ago I painted a piece called Dragon Sickness - inspired by the demise of Durin's blood line in The Hobbit. This is a modernisation of the same basic idea. To quote Ragnar Lothbrok (Vikings), power attracts the worst and corrupts the best. Extreme wealth is simply the modern proxy for blood lines and warrior prowess.

The rise of the generative AI tech companies and data centres can be used as the pinnacle example of modern corruption. Artists were the first wave of creatives whose work was mined, stripped and stolen by generative AI so I had an early hatred for it's rise. The damage it's use does to cognitive skills is now thoroughly documented, as is the reckless destruction of local natural resources - and yet these companies continue to expand and infect very area of human creativity. It is cyber sickness.
